This wonderful course is a perfect introduction to the techniques of Stained Glass & Copperfoil construction. Included in the price of your 2 day course - use of tools and equipment in our studio, Stained Glass/Copperfoil Beginner Pack which includes – a choice from four designs, glass, lead, flux, solder,cement, copperfoil, rinse off, patina, finishing compound. Bert will explain the aspects of safety precautions, tools, equipment and glass. In class you will be given step by step demonstrations of glass cutting, the construction process with lead channel, how to solder your glass panel and finally cement/grouting procedure. During your practical experience Bert will provide helpful hints and advice to all students.
In the course you will make a small stained glass (leadlight) panel, which will teach you the techniques of shape and straight line glass cutting, the leading process, soldering and the final cementing of your panel. This technique leads to stained glass making for cabinet doors, windows, doors and sidelights. You will also learn copperfoiling by making a butterfly hanger. Copperfoiling leads to trinket making, jewellery boxes, vases and lampshade construction. The 2 projects are yours to take home on Sunday.
Our classes are not all hard work we always have plenty of laughter and a cuppa is on hand as morning and afternoon tea will be provided for the duration of the course. Lunch is not supplied but a majority of our students bring their lunch and we usually sit around the work bench and have a chat. If you need to purchase your lunch Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre is just down the road were they have a food court. You will not have to bring anything else to class as everything is supplied in your course fees. We do ask that you wear comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes as you are working in a glass studio.
On completion of our Introduction Course a 10% discount is offered to all our students if they wish to purchase any tools or equipment during the weekend to hep them carry on with any of their future Stained Glass and Copperfoil projects.
