INTRODUCTION TO STAINED GLASS
No additional costs are required for the duration of the 4 week course.
This wonderful course is a perfect introduction to the basic techniques of Stained Glass and Copperfoil. Included in the price of your four week course is the Hire of all Tools and Equipment, your Stained Glass Beginner Pack includes - design, glass, lead, board for construction, laths, flux and solder with four designs to choose from and the materials to build a Copperfoil Suncatcher. Our professional teachers will explain the aspects of safety precautions, tools, equipment and glass. In class you will be given demonstrations of glass cutting, the construction process with lead channel, how to solder your stained glass panel and finally cement/ grouting procedures. You will also experience Copperfoil construction with your suncatcher butterfly to take home. Design Glass believes the only way to learn is under a watchful eye of an experience teacher. Our classes are not all hardwork we always have plenty of laughter and free tea,coffee, biscuits and Gummy Bears for everyone.

INTRODUCTION TO MOSAICS
No additional Costs are required for the duration of the 4 week course.
"Introduction to Mosaics” is one of our fun courses. Included in the price of your four week course is the Hire of all Tools and Equipment, your Beginner Packs, Adhesives and Grouts. Design Glass teaches their students mosaicing in glass, glass tiles and ceramic. Your first beginner pack is a glass mosaic with a choice of three designs to choose from. This piece will teach you a variety of glass cutting technics including shape cutting and with the different glass cutting tools you will create different effects and finishes. Your second project is with ceramics and it’s your turn to design. To help you with this process your teacher will discuss the options and give suggestions if required. The cutting of ceramics is very different to glass and uses different tools all of which are at your disposal. You are then given a project in Glass Tiles - this project will teach you the techniques in cutting glass tiles and the use of template making used for design work in glass tile mosaicing. In your course you will experience the direct and indirect methods of mosaicing and there applications. You will be shown the many different finishing techniques you can apply to your mosaic pieces which include paints and glitter finishes and the method of multi coloured grout finishes. Also covered is the all important mixing of oxides to create the perfect coloured grout. As with all our classes at Design Glass the coffee, tea,biscuits,Gummy Bears and good times are free flowing.

ADVANCED STAINED GLASS
All Advanced Students are required to supply their own tools and supplies
Our Advanced Stained Glass Course is for students who have completed basic stained glass construction. In this informative class you will be guided through the Australian Standards for design, support requirements, measurement of different frames for your stained glass projects, advanced glass cutting techniques and installation. In class you will design and construct your own Stained Glass Panel under the watchful eye of our teachers ready to assist with any questions or queries you may encounter through - out your project and in the class situation you will learn so much more as everyone has different problems that need to be solved. Our knowledgeable teachers make the Stained Glass lessons informative but fun and we supply free tea,coffee,biscuits and our famous Gummy Bears.

ADVANCED COPPERFOIL
All Advanced Students are required to supply their own tools and supplies.
Our Advanced Copperfoil Course is for students who have completed basic Copperfoil construction or any student who has had glass cutting experience with a degree of accuracy. In this class you are set loose to create any copperfoil project you may desire. In your first lesson you are required to bring along your project and pattern to discuss your requirements. You will notice a variety of different projects within your class. As your classes unfolds you will learn new techniques from your teacher who will explain and demonstrate in detail the finer points of Copperfoiling on your classmates projects. Giving you greater knowledge of how different copperfoil constructions are made. You will be given information on soldering and soldering techniques and finishes to best suit your project. Many of our students have created stunning lampshades, jewellery boxes , figurines,vases just to mention a few. As we all know Copperfoilist drink a lot of coffee which is in plentiful supply along with the famous Gummy Bears.

WALK - IN - CLASS
If you are a past Design Glass Student in Advanced Stained Glass, Advanced Copperfoil or Introduction To Mosaics Course we would like to offer you our "Walk - In - Class." This is designed for our past students who would like to use our studio to complete their projects. You are most welcome to come along during class times and enjoy our friendly enviroment ,have full use of our studio including grinders, drawing equipment, work benches and have the added bonus of professional teachers on hand for any assistance you may require. No booking is needed - you just come along on the Saturday or Tuesday morning.

DECORATIVE SOLDERING
No additional costs are required for the course
This course is only held twice a year and has a limited number of placements. The course is open to any experienced Copperfoilist with an enthusiasm to learn more about soldering and the fascinating effects you can achieve with the right knowledge and practice. Included in your course fee is your glass and copperfoil (this is given to you on enrollment as homework to have foiled ready for construction in class), 60/40, 50/50 & 63/37 solder, flux, flux brush and use of a rheostat if required whilst in class and not to forget coffee, tea and biscuits (Energy food for Art Glass Artists). All you are required to bring on the day is your completed homework, soldering iron, small sponge and safety glasses. This intensive but fun course is truly a hands on experience with many different solder techniques being shown and tried, the effects of different solders and soldering iron temperatures are explored and the finishes they can produce. To finish the lesson a demonstration in copper sheet which is used in overlays and how Decorative Soldering can compliment and increase your artistic creativity .

On enrollment you will be sent a letter of confirmation and information relating to your first class. On enrollment please inform us of the collection of your Homework kit or if you require the Kit to be freighted to your contact address. A shipping cost will be incurred.
